With exceptional instruction, our students can achieve more – that’s why we’re committed to supporting teachers.
It’s the best way we can make a tangible, immediate impact on the education Lake Oswego students receive.
But why do teachers need support at all?
Because the district needs help. State funding is not sufficient to provide the high quality education we all want and have come to expect for our students.
The Foundation works tirelessly every year to bridge that gap. $1.7 million was raised last year, $2.3 million the year before that and $22 million since 1994.
Ninety-four percent of all that money is given to the district specifically to support teacher salaries. This is an incredible accomplishment for our small community and one that makes a tremendous impact on Lake Oswego schools.
Without our efforts, classroom sizes across the district would increase dramatically and our middle and high schools would have fewer elective choices.
Simply stated, the education Lake Oswego students receive would look and feel very different.
Stronger schools mean a stronger community and higher property values.
Even if you don’t have a student at home, you know that the schools are one of the reasons many of us live in Lake Oswego – they are what make this the best place in Oregon to live, work and have a family.
Year after year, our commitment to supporting teachers has paid off:
The Foundation conducts an annual campaign in the early spring of the year, providing our greatest source of revenue. Other sources include business, realtor and mortgage lender programs, corporate matching funds, direct mail and special events. Additionally, our Stafford Society endowment fund, provides sustaining funds for generations to come.
